Transportation Options

Ride Gwinnett is a public transportation system in Gwinnett County.

• Bus Route 40 has a stop at Phoenix High School Main Campus.  This bus has a consistent daily schedule.  It starts at Pleasant Hill Road near I-85 and travels to Lawrenceville (with numerous stops between) and back again. One-way tickets, 10-ride cards, and monthly rider cards are available.
• Currently available for Lawrenceville residents only: The Ride Gwinnett Microtransit will pick up riders on demand and deliver them anywhere within Lawrenceville, including Phoenix High School.  The cost for a one-way trip is $3.00.

Georgia Commute is a public service for the Atlanta metro area helping people find ways to get to work and school in order to avoid single occupancy vehicles. Carpooling is one of the options they offer.  

Students may use Rideshares such as Lyft or Uber.  Students may also get rides to school from parents, family members, friends, or classmates.

• Students aged 16 and 17 must complete an approved education course with a certified private or public driver training program.  
  • The program that is available through the GCPS Community Schools has a cost of $345.

  • You may be eligible to receive a scholarship to pay for the training. 
• A Learner’s Permit must be held for one year and one day.
• A parent or guardian must be present when applying for the license.
• Students aged 18 or older
  • The one year and one day rule does not apply.
